Basic routine for hairs

Taking care of our hairs is very important due to various reasons such as maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, preventing hairfall, dandruff, problems with lice, itchy scalp, etc. If one does not take care of their hairs, one is bound to face these above mentioned problems and many more.

Mantainig healthy hairs need a routine that one should follow if one has to prevent the consequences of not taking care of their hairs. Below is a simple and easy hair care routine that one should follow to maintain the health of their hairs:

1. Hair Oil: It is the first step in the hair care routine. Oiling the hairs not only helps the hairs from root to tips and the scalp of head but also oiling helps in massaging the head, which is good for circulation of blood, and massaging helps in relieving us from stress and therefore relaxing us too. Oils provide additional benefits to the hairs and scalp such as nourishing the hairs, providing it with benefits of the oil you are using, giving it shine, preventing hairfall, etc.

How to use: Take a small amount of oil on your palm or directly on your scalp, and start to apply the oil using your fingertips by massaging the head thoroughly. Remember to appy pressure while massaging. Let the hairs soak up the oil, by either sleeping overnight and wash the hairs next day, or apply the oil a few hours before bathing, wait for about 1-2 hours and then wash.

How often to use: Once a week is a must, but 2x a week is recommended (Either in the morning before bathing or at night).

2. Shampoo: The next step is shampooing the hairs. Shampoos helps the hairs to remove the grease, dirt, pollution, oil and sweat that gets accumulated so that the hairs are clean. It cleans not just the hairs but also the scalp. It provides additional benefits to the hairs and scalp, like removing dandruff, getting rid of lice, provides the hairs with shine and volume, or preventing hairfall, making hairs softer etc.

How to use: Rinse the hairs with plain water, take a little amount of shampoo on palm and apply to the scalp and hairs, using fingertips and massaging until it lathers well and washing with water until the hairs feel clean.

After this squeeze almost all the water out of hairs till you don’t see the water drops falling out of hairs by keeping all the hairs encapsulated gently within one palm or both. This is an important part of the routine as it prepares the hairs for the next step.

How often to use: 2x a week at least is recommended (in the morning generally, but can use at night too).

3. Conditioner: After you have washed and cleaned your hairs with shampoo, the next step is to condition the hairs. It helps the hairs in keeping them stay away from frizz, helps dry and rough hairs by smoothening them, provides nourishment and shine to hairs and many more additional benefits, so that hairs doesn’t get tangled later.

How to use: After washing the hairs with shampoo, squeeze all the water out of the hairs. Take a small amount of conditioner in your palms and apply it thoroughly until you reach the hairtips just as you apply shampoo, leaving the roots and scalp area untouched. Then leave the hairs for about 10-15 minutes and rinse afterwards with plain water.

How often to use: Same as Shampoo, 2x a week at least (in the morning but can use at night).

4. Hair Serum: This is the next step in the routine, using hair serum. It helps the hairs in detangling, makes hairs softer and smoother, provides nourishment, and helps in reducing hairfall, keeping frizzy hairs under control etc.

How to use: After you have washed the hairs of the conditioner, dry the hairs with towel, Keeping in mind neither to dry them completely nor leave them wet completely. Then take the hair serum in your palm and rub it into palms and apply to the hairs slowly, first to the whole length of hairs until the hairtips are covered and then using fingertips, apply it to the scalp and roots.

Remember to not towel dry the hairs too tightly or roughly, to avoid breakage of hairs.

How often to use: Every time after washing hairs (in the morning usually).

After this step, when the hairs are completely dry, either use hair comb or hairs brush to comb the hairs so that there are no knots in the hairs and hairs are untangled or if you are in a hurry, gently comb the hairs and leave for air drying.

This next step is a little extra, so there is no compulsion in following this step, but it further helps the hairs in maintaining their health. So it’s completely upto your choice whether to follow this one step or not.

5. Hair mask/ pack: Usually this step is the first step in a routine when one doesn’t want to use hair oil or when simply applying hair oil doesn’t helps the hairs very much. Hair masks helps in providing many benefits to the hairs such as making hairs softer, smoother, shinier, providing it with protein and other nutrients, helping in reducing hairfall and dandruff, can also help in regrowth of hairs etc. It is also known as hair pack but it does the same job as a hair mask.

How to use: Take a little amount of it from fingertips and apply from roots and scalp first, taking small portions of hairs and gradually covering the whole head, then apply it to the whole length of hairs towards the tips. Then keep them tied up in a bun and either can cover it up or leave it as such. Wait for at least an hour or two so that it gets dried up completely. Rinse with plain water first and then follow with shampoo and rest of the routine.

Remember when you use hair mask/ pack, there is no need to apply hair oil afterwards.

How often to use: 2x a month generally (in the morning before bathing).
